Patool Kutmah
When did you graduate?
I graduated from ISL in 2013.
Where are you now?
I am currently a sophomore studying Computer Engineering at Purdue University.
Where do you see yourself in five year?
In five years I see myself graduating college and working at a tech company where I can make a positive impact on the world.
What role did ISL play in your life?
At ISL I was able to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment where I was able to fully express myself, learn new things, and gain life-long friendships. In addition, ISL provided me with the fundamental knowledge of my religion and the Quran that have shaped who I am today.

When did you graduate? I graduated from ISL in 2007, where I attended kindergarten through fifth grade.
Where are you now? I am a PhD student in sociology at the University of California, Berkeley. As a researcher, I get to be involved in sharing new narratives about Muslims and immigrants with the rest of the world. I was a Patterson Scholar at the University of Kentucky, where I graduated with three majors: International Studies, French, and Arabic & Islamic Studies. Before that, I graduated from DuPont Manual High School's MST magnet.
Where do you see yourself in five years? InshAllah, I will be finishing writing my dissertation on applying for jobs as an assistant professor in sociology or Middle East Studies.
What role did ISL play in your life? The Islamic School of Louisville gave me a very good foundation for my spirituality, a variety of examples for roles I could take on in the community, and practical teaching on how to be a Muslim. Equally as important, it provided a space where I could grow up feeling confident in my identity and beliefs before going into the world, where my identity and beliefs would be challenged.
